Over the past week and a half, me and my class have been practicing the basic shots that compose a film. Here are a few of my favorite shots.
Shot 1- Extreme Close-Up, I really appreciate this shot because it gives a good look on expression and can also reveal certain things to the audience. Shot 2- Full Shot, This (along with medium) is the most basic shots to capture, It is used the most often. Shot 3- Extreme /Low Angle, This shot is great, it can reveal thing to the viewers, it also just gives the viewer something different to look at. Shot 4- Medium Shot, Again this is one of the most popular and basic shots in film, it just shows the main point(s) of interest. Shot 5- Close-Up, A close-up is also used a lot, it is used to show emotion and to focus on just one thing. Shot 6- Birds Eye, This was the most difficult to capture, to was hard to get in the right position to make the shot look ok.

My most recent video was about the recent sit-in at Ladue High School. The sit-in occurred during the last class of the day. They talked about community issues both in the school and in their city. They also discussed the Jason Stockley verdict that caused many protests.
The Good: I got tons of film, and had awesome b-roll. The Bad: Becuase of some technical issues and procrastination I missed the due date for the project, I will do everything in my power to make sure this doesn’t happen again. The Ugly: For the last two interviews there was no audio, this was really bad because I felt these were the best interviews, but I do feel like the project turned out great |
